DJ'ing - The Irish Way!

If you're Irish, this doesn't really need explaining but if you're not... it does!

A DJ in the 21st Century can be anybody from a superstar DJ like 'David Guetta' to a teenager with an iPad playing non stop trance music!

But a 'Traditional Irish Wedding DJ' or 'Irish Party DJ' is something very different!

At an Irish Wedding or Party you will have people from all age groups socialising together which is one of the few occasions that this occurs. So although your 'Superstar' DJ may be a 'Superstar' can he/she handle the crowd when they ask for 'Aon Focal Eile' or 'Come on Eileen'?

Can he/she arrive hours before the party and set up the lights and sound equipment so there's no interruption to the party? Can they along with being discreet, be ready to go 'exactly' when agreed?

My promise to you is this.... "I can, and will do all of the above, because I do, and have done all of the above!"

The 'Old' Songs

The 'old songs' - the 'old ways'. Just because a song is 'old' that doesn't mean it shouldn't be played! That seems to be the way a lot of younger DJs think but it is definitely not what I do. I could list songs here that I can play but nowadays it is relatively easy to get the song you want. It is not so easy to play them in the right order and Thats what I do!

So, if you want it i'll play it

  • Rock'n'roll from the 50s/60s
  • Disco&Glam from the 70s
  • Synth&Pop classics from the 80s
  • Indie, Alt & House from the 90s
  • Dance&Club sounds from today
  • Not forgetting 'Irish','Country'

...and anything else you'd like!

Just let me know any special requests you have before the night and then leave it up to me to weave them into the night at the right time!

The 'Slow' Sets

This is something that amazes me!

In the 21st Century the 'old' tradition of playing a few slow songs back to back has disappeared. I have decided that this needs to be corrected - So unless you request otherwise, I will at the right time announce a slow set and play some classics!

Some of the best songs of the last 50 years have been slow songs so why should we stop playing them?!

Classics like 'Nights in White Satin' or 'Stairway to heaven' from the 60s.

The 70s gave us 'Wonderful Tonight', 'Your Song'.

In the 80s we had 'Hello', 'True', 'Careless Whisper'

Even the 90s gave us 'Under the Bridge', 'I'll stand by you'.

Even since the Millenium we've had 'Chasing Cars', 'Yellow' etc...

So, it starts here - Bring back the Slow Set and that I will do!

It takes ALL sorts...

It takes all sorts of people to make a party so it takes 'all sorts' of music to also make a party....
.... and thats what ill do!
If you want it played, then ill play it... simple - just make sure you ask.
Update for '14: read **Be the DJ!**

NO PLAYLISTS!*See Update

No two nights that I do are ever the same.
Yes, some songs can be played more regularly than others but because the audience decide what i'll play then every night is unique.
I still play the most popular songs but its your night and that means ."I DON'T USE SET PLAYLISTS".
Today, a lot of DJs use pre set playlists to DJ. I DO NOT!

I decide what to play based on the audience that I see in front of me and as that changes I'll change the type of music.
My objective: Everybody to enjoy themselves - Simple :)
